FAQ
-
Honors English 11 emphasizes deeper analysis, more complex texts, and a higher level of independence. Students are expected to read closely, write analytically, and participate thoughtfully in discussion. Pacing is often faster, and assignments may require sustained thinking, revision, and reflection. The focus is on building strong reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills in preparation for advanced coursework.
-
Late work is accepted up to the Skyline High School universal deadline. Assignments submitted by that deadline will be reviewed and assessed according to course expectations. Students are encouraged to communicate proactively if they anticipate difficulty meeting a due date.
-
There is typically no assigned homework beyond what students do not complete during class time. Class periods are structured to allow students to read, write, and work on assignments with guidance and support. Students may occasionally choose to continue work outside of class if additional time is needed.
-
Students read a range of literary texts selected from the Granite School District–approved book list. Writing assignments emphasize expository, argumentative, and literary analysis, with a focus on evidence-based reasoning, clarity, and revision.
-
Students should check Canvas and this website for posted assignments, materials, and instructions, as all essential information is available there. If questions remain after reviewing those resources, students may reach out for clarification.
