Agenda

  1. Starter: 5/7 & 5/8

    • Watch the video and answer the following questions.

  2. Assignment: Vietnam Primary Source Analysis

    1. Part I - Vietnam Primary Source Analysis Directions: Read each of the primary source accounts of the Vietnam War and answer the corresponding questions.

    2. Part II - Writing About the Primary Sources Directions: Using the sources provided, respond to the following prompt in three well-developed paragraphs, each focusing on a different type of tension—social, political, and ideological—that contributed to the outbreak and escalation of the Vietnam War. For each paragraph, follow the ClaimEvidenceAnalysis structure. Your response must include information (either paraphrased or quoted directly) from at least 6 of the 8 sources.

      • Claim: Start each paragraph with a clear, concise statement about how the particular type of tension (social, political, or ideological) contributed to the Vietnam War.

      • Evidence: Support your claim with specific examples from the sources. Refer to the sources correctly (by title and date) and integrate the information smoothly.

      • Analysis: Explain how the evidence you provided connects to the broader impact of the Vietnam War. What does this evidence show about how the tension contributed to the war’s escalation?

Your response should be well-organized and focus on analysis, not just summary. Use at least two sources per paragraph to support your argument.

  3. IMPORTANT: Copy and paste the writing from your graphic organizer into three separate paragraphs in the box below. After formatting your paragraphs correctly, copy and paste them again into the “Primary Source Writing FINAL” assignment on Canvas. This will allow me to check your work for plagiarism. Your response must be in a 3-paragraph format (not in the graphic organizer) to be graded!
