2 - Assignment: TTTC: Vignette #1
Assignment: Vignette 1 Group Assignment
While we read:
Listen for your group's character and take notes on the scratch paper at your table. Take notes on:
A list of what the character carries
The meaning of their name (you may need to consult Google after we finish reading the chapter)
Any quotes (with page numbers!) that reveal something about the character indirectly: AKA indirect characterization
Requirements
10 annotations PER PERSON
Minimum of 1 from each category
Categories:
Things your character carries (emotionally + physically)
Meaning of name
Direct quotes about indirect characterization
How I would break it down:
Per group:
1-2 people make a list of 5 items every soldier carries
1 person makes a list of 5 items your assigned character physically carries
1-2 people make a list of 5 items your assigned character emotionally carries
Per person:
1 annotation about your assigned character’s name
4 direct quotes about indirect characterization
After we read:
Compare your list to the list on the graphic organizer.
Identify what each item from the list symbolizes about the character's personality, values, beliefs, or worldview.
Record any quotes (cited in MLA) and write 2-3 sentences of analysis for these quotes, analyzing what they indirectly reveal about the character's personality, values, beliefs, or worldview.
